Eighteen going on nineteen. Been drawing since I was born, and I love it. I am ever so slightly overdosed on books and K-Pop; the latter being the reason why I'm learning Korean. Besides, I love languages. I also love to swim, play squash and write, and I put up whatever I write (mostly funny poems) on Wattpad. I also have a YouTube channel where I put up Speed Art videos.
Happy to meet you! Stop by another time. :D

Yesterday. Today. Forever.
Cheers,
Nisha

Throw me to the Wolves... by Art-Ablaze
Throw me to the Wolves...
"Throw me to the wolves and I will return leading the pack."

This was such a badass quote, I simply had to do this. Sorry for my long, random periods of absence; college is keeping me very busy ^^;

Okay, so basically SM Town opened up this new thing called FanBook where artists from all over the world can submit their fanart and support each other's fanart and everything. And in honour of the site opening they have a contest where you can submit fanart (digital and traditional)/webtoons/videos of artists under SM Entertainment, and selected works will be displayed at both SM's COEX Artium and SM's Communication Center!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I submitted all my fanart of artists from SM Entertainment and I would really really appreciate it if you would vote/comment on my artworks there because it would be the world's biggest honour for me to be selected. I really don't care about the prizes, all I want is for the idols I've drawn to see their fanart. Honestly.

And if YOU also have SM fanart, then you should totally apply for the contest as well and I'll definitely give you a vote AND a comment if you like. :hug: :love: :D I'm just so pumped up about this because I've been waiting for this kind of thing for AGES. And I don't even have to send physical copies of my drawings, which is a sort of advantage because of all the accidents which could happen while sending it.

That said, please vote for my artworks (you don't have to vote for all my entries if you want) and send me a message on DA if you've uploaded something and want me to vote/comment on it, because hey! let's help each other out, yeah?

A Love Like This by Art-Ablaze
A Love Like This
"Even after all this time, the Sun never says to the Earth "You owe me." Look what happens with a love like that. It lights up the whole sky."~ Hafiz of Persia

So basically in college, we were asked to watch this movie called The Shift by Dwayne Wyer. While I usually don't do spiritual/philosophical movies/talks/documentaries, this one somehow managed to pull me in and I quite enjoyed it and found it to be profound and not in the 'preaching' style, if you know what I mean. The quote above was used in the movie and I loved it a lot! :love: It struck me as beautiful and loving, hence the drawing that inspired it :D

For some reason, while drawing the characters, I imagined their personalities as well, which I usually don't do while drawing people (not portraits). I imagined the Sun to be the older one but the kind that made mistakes because she loved her younger sibling- the Earth- too much. Sort of naive, playful, and more like a younger sibling than an older one. Whereas Earth I imagined to be more steady, always ready to console and forgive her older sister and take care of and protect her.

It feels slightly strange because until I was typing this out I never thought of the fact that I don't attribute personalities to the people I draw. I think it's because it's usually ME that I'm drawing, as I'm the one with whom I can relate the most, but that wasn't the case here ^^;

Cats, Art and DeviantArt. Happy 16th!!!! by Art-Ablaze
Cats, Art and DeviantArt. Happy 16th!!!!
Once upon a time, a girl loved drawing. She preferred it above everything else, and would produce at least one drawing every two days. She loved drawing anything and everything. One fine day, she entered a drawing competition, and she stood first in her whole state!!! She then went up to the nationals. There she lost.

She couldn't quite understand why she wasn't able to draw after that. It didn't give her the same joy as before. She didn't know if it was because she had lost all her confidence in her talent after losing the nationals or if it was because of something else. However, it so happened that for a long time (a year actually) she didn't draw anything. At. All.

Then she found that she actually missed drawing. So she sat down and drew for the first time after the nationals. She enjoyed it. The love was coming back. Slowly she started drawing again. Once a month. Then once a week maybe. The process was slow. But it was happening.

Soon, she was back to normal. And then she found DeviantArt, and the joy she found in drawing knew no bounds. She enjoyed posting art just to see what other people thought of it. She wanted appreciation, but wasn't obsessed with getting it as she now knew that no matter how many competitions she would lose, her talent wouldn't go away. She would still be talented, like everyone else. Her art would still be beautiful, just like everyone else's. She loved looking at other people's artworks and learning from them. She loved helping out whoever asked her for help. She loved being part of a community where everybody's artwork is appreciated. She enjoyed getting inspired. She enjoyed the feeling of putting pen, pencil, brush, crayon to paper. She loved art. And this time she knew it wouldn't go away.

Foggy by Art-Ablaze
Foggy
I can't seem to see past these emotions and figure out what's right...

Story time!
An incident took place a few months back that inspired this drawing. I was making tea for my parents, and when I was pouring it into two cups, the steam from the tea fogged up my glasses and for a few seconds, I couldn't see anything. For some reason, this reminded me of a few people I know who are fair and just at all times, but when they become angry, their judgement is clouded. It also reminded me of myself a little; jealousy tends to cloud my judgement sometimes.

I believe all of us are just and fair humans. It's just that sometimes, some emotions (like those on the cup - anger, sadness, jealousy etc) prevent us from seeing the truth, or prevent us from judging or even thinking of something with a calm, fair mind.
For instance, someone might be so angry or jealous that they do or say something that they don't mean; someone might be so worried that they cannot pull themselves together and as such, cause further harm to themselves and/or others around them. In such cases, whatever we're seeing or judging becomes warped, whatever situation we're in suddenly becomes "unmanageable." In the absence of these emotions however, we can think clearly and make all the right decisions.

Say for example, your friend falls down and hurts his/her knee. A person consumed by worry may not be able to help their friend at all because they're so worried that they can't think straight. On the other hand, someone who takes stock of the situation with a calm mind will be able to give first aid as well as reassure their friend that everything is going to be alright. In fact, the injured friend might be reassured and might become calmer just by seeing that their friend isn't panicking.

It isn't easy to prevent these emotions from affecting our judgement or the way we work, but I believe we all can try, because things can get a lot messier should we allow them to "blind" us, especially when we can't afford to have foggy vision. :D
